NISCHAL KHANAL
I am currently a senior at Washington University in St. Louis, finishing my degree in biomedical engineering. I am also a pre-medical student and hope to attend medical school after graduating from WashU. My aspiration is to one day combine my medical knowledge with my engineering expertise and apply that to solve public health issues faced by communities around the globe. In addition, through my various shadowing and volunteering activities, I have discovered that I also enjoy working in a hospital setting, so I hope to balance practicing medicine with engineering solutions for prominent health issues. This project is a step in that direction, as I have the opportunity to apply both my knowledge in biology and chemistry \with the engineering skills I have gained at WashU.

UTSAV MALLA
I am currently an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis working towards a degree in biomedical engineering. I also have a bachelors of arts in Biochemistry. It is my core belief that human kindness and empathy that transcends beyond one’s immediate circle of family and friends, and extends out to our community, our nation and our world, is the most important virtue we can take pride in as human beings. After all, a life is not important except for the impact it has on other lives. And as an aspiring biomedical engineer, I want to integrate this value into my passion for advancement of modern medicine and healthcare technology. I feel extremely proud to say that I regard human compassion of utmost importance, and it is in service to this innate belief of mine that I want to dedicate my career as a biomedical engineer in developing affordable medical devices for communities shackled in poverty in Nepal and other third world countries.
